Notary Services

Professional Notary Service With Clear Expectations.

AIA provides mobile notary service for individuals, families, businesses, and organizations, with detailed guidance so clients understand what to prepare, what AIA can do, and what happens next.

What the Service Is

Mobile notary service means a commissioned notary public travels to an appropriate agreed location to perform an applicable notarial act. AIA can meet at a home, workplace, senior community, church, healthcare setting, professional office, or another location that can support a proper appointment.

The goal is a calm, professional experience: the right people present, the document ready, identification available, and a clear explanation of the notarial process within AIA’s role.

Clear Professional Boundaries

AIA can perform appropriate notarial acts and explain the notarial process within its role. AIA does not choose legal documents, prepare legal documents unless separately authorized by law, or provide legal advice.

What to Have Ready

Document

Bring the complete document presented for notarization.

Identification

Have identification available that satisfies applicable requirements.

Signers

All required signers should be present and prepared to participate.

Witnesses

Confirm witness requirements with the appropriate document professional when needed.

What AIA Can Do

  • Travel to an appropriate agreed location
  • Confirm identity according to applicable requirements
  • Perform the requested notarial act when the conditions are satisfied
  • Explain the notarial process within the notary’s role
  • Pause or decline an appointment that cannot properly proceed

What AIA Cannot Do

  • Provide legal advice
  • Select the legal document a client should use
  • Prepare legal documents unless separately authorized by law
  • Tell a person whether they should sign
  • Guarantee that every requested act can be completed on arrival

What Happens During the Appointment

  1. AIA arrives at the agreed location and confirms the people present.
  2. The document and requested notarial act are identified.
  3. Identification and signer participation are reviewed.
  4. The applicable notarial act is completed when requirements are satisfied.
  5. The client retains their document and understands that the notarial portion of the visit is complete.
Most documents should remain unsigned until the notary is present, unless the document professional has instructed otherwise. Tell AIA before the appointment if a document has already been signed.

Notary Services FAQ

Core expectations are on this page. These answers address common follow-up questions.

Can AIA notarize a power of attorney?

AIA may notarize signatures on a properly prepared power of attorney when applicable requirements are satisfied. AIA does not draft the document or advise which form a client should use.

Can AIA come to a hospital or senior living community?

Potentially, yes. Mobile service is available at appropriate agreed locations based on scheduling, access, signer participation, identification, and the requirements of the requested notarial act.

What if the document has already been signed?

Tell AIA before the appointment. Whether the notarization can proceed depends on the requested notarial act and the circumstances.

Do all signers need to be present?

Each person whose signature is being notarized must personally satisfy the applicable requirements for that notarial act.

Can AIA tell me which form I need?

No. Selecting a legal form or advising which document a person needs may constitute legal advice.

What should I have ready?

The complete document, identification that satisfies applicable requirements, all required signers, and any witnesses required by the document professional.

Ready to Request Notary Service?

Tell AIA what you need, where you need it, and who will be present. Submitting a request does not automatically confirm an appointment.
